You will note from the example above, that putting a good link in the page heading helps to expand on
and clarify the information contained in the page title. Putting important information
into context helps
create a user friendly website.
Page titles appear on the search engines results pages
or
SERPs for the
search phrase that a user types into the search window. Search engines place a very
high value on good page titles, that accurately describe the page content,
to rank web pages.
Since page titles appear on the search engines results pages,
ensuring that your pages receive good placement, requires that you have good text
links, with the page title text included, to each of your sites pages.
When you scan a results page, the page title that most closely
appears to meet your search query, will likely be the one you click on.
Although being ranked
number one on the list is very important, having an
interesting page title can often induce visitors to visit your site
out of simple curiosity. Page titles are like storefront signs, the
good ones get noticed.
As you visit each page, check the search engine results by
clicking on each search engine name at the bottom of the page. You can read a more
complete list of
page titles on our good site map. Each time we edit or add
new information to a page, we analize the title to determine if it still
best describes the page. If not, we change it. This is a very important component of optimizing a web page.
Please note: Google does not permit direct search linking from non-exclusive business
sites and so they are not included on the search engine links list. Please
